A firm in Northern Ireland has improved the management of its consumer data after receiving a warning from the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and the Office of the Data Protection Supervisor.
Praxis Care, which provides care services and has offices in the country, was picked out after an unencrypted memory stick was lost.
It went missing on the Isle of Man in August last year and contained information relating to 107 residents on the island and 53 in Northern Ireland.
Christopher Graham, UK information commissioner, said the case is "unacceptable".
"The fact that some of the personal details stored on the device were out of date and so surplus to requirements makes this breach all the more concerning," he stated.
It was recently revealed by the ICO that former health assistant Juliah Kechil has confessed to breaching data protection laws by accessing information about relatives of her ex-husband via medical databases.
