Firms around the UK might be interested in updating their security options in a bid to make their data management more reliable, following another potential hacking incident in the US.

The Anonymous group has used Twitter to claim somebody has managed to infiltrate the CIA website and left it inaccessible to users, reported the BBC.

It is the latest attack on a federal agency in the country. Anonymous has not claimed responsibility for the hacking, but a group close to it – Lulz Security – brought down the organisation's site last year.

A statement affiliated with Anonymous last month said it had managed to shut down the sites belonging to the FBI and the Department of Justice.

Organisations with a website they are keen to protect could look to invest in the required security solutions to protect themselves against hacking.

The International Data Corporation recently noted that threats to companies through the web are on the rise.
